The Categories
Ireland's Young Filmmaker Of The Year
Senior Category 13-18 years of age
The senior category is open to individual young filmmakers and filmmaking groups. Whether you work alone, with friends, a teacher or adult filmmaker if you are aged 13-18 and have made a film then this category is for you.
Drama, documentary, music video, animation we want to see them all!
Prizes are awarded by our jury of industry professionals, young filmmakers, previous winners and educators.
Ireland's Junior Young Filmmaker of the Year
Junior Category 7-12 years of age
The junior category is open to individual young filmmakers and filmmaking groups. Whether you work alone, with friends, a teacher or adult filmmaker if you are aged 7-12 and have made a film then this category is for you.
Comedy, horror, drama, documentary, music video, animation we want to see them all!
Prizes are awarded by our jury of industry professionals, young filmmakers, previous winners and educators.
International
7-18 years of age
Fresh are delighted to be an international film festival for young people and we welcome your films from around the globe to our festival.

Specialist Awards
Specialist Awards may be given out in the Junior or senior categories.
As well as being eligible for the main awards at Fresh if your film fits one of the categories below it will be sent on to our specialist partner juries.
Fresh are delighted to be partnered with some fantastic filmmaking organisations that join us every year in recognising the sterling work of our young filmmakers. Each of the specialist awards are decided on by the organisations themselves meaning your films are being seen by some pretty important folks so make sure you make an impression!
Radharc Trust Award
Will be presented to to the best documentary film that reflects the values of Radharc Films.
The Brownbag Animation Award
Will be presented to the best animated film
The RTE 60 second Short Award
Will be presented by RTE to the best 1 minute film (films up to a duration of 1min 30secs will be eligible
The RTE Factual award
Will be presented by RTE to the best factual short film.
