Galway Junior Film Fleadh

Hothouse Short Film Panel in association with Fresh Film Festival

13.00 Saturday 19th November 2011. Town Hall Theatre. Age 14-18 yrs limited places. 45 mins

Fresh Film Festival has worked with young Irish filmmakers for over 15 years. During the 2011 festival Fresh colaborated closely with a group of young experienced filmmakers forming the ‘Hothouse Group’ which has now received funding from the Arts Council to make a 10 minute short.

The group is made up of 12 young filmmakers, all assigned specific roles who are currently working on this short. The Junior Galway Film Fleadh is proud to host a panel discussion featuring members from the Hothouse Group who will give an insight into their experiences as young Irish Filmmakers and offer tips and advice for budding young filmmakers.

Hothouse - Productions

It might seem like all our energies are going into exporting your films but we are also working with the Hothouse group, who met on the last day of the festival. The Hothouse group proposed making a film over the summer and their Youth Ensemble Scheme application went through to the Arts Council in April.

Fresh are delighted to announce the Hothouse group application was successful and funds have been awarded to the group to make a short. Out of 44 applicants the Arts Council awarded 19 projects so a big Congratulations to the group!

The first pre-production day with the group will take place in Dublin before the end of August. We hope that production and post production will take place late October in Limerick.

Fresh will keep you posted on the progress...
